Brandenburg, Germany
German king Henry captured the Slavic castle Hevellerburg for the first time in 928/29 AD. At this place we find the Brandenburg cathedral today. Nevertheless, the first document related to Brandenbug is dated 948. The cathedral houses enormous treasures, and among them valuable altars, a rare collection of ecclesiastical vestments and the first document with the mention of a then small hamlet called Berlin. Brandenburg is situated on the Havel river west of Berlin. Brandenburg (population: 74,937, area: 80mi2) was the fourth area on my mission. My pictures of Brandenburg can be found in the picture gallery. Visit the Berlin Mission Website to see other pictures of Brandenburg. |
